Trafford Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS)
What is PALS?
Being a patient, relative a personal assistant, or a carer can be a worrying or confusing time. Sometimes you will need to turn to someone for
"on the spot" help, advice or support.
This is where the new Patient Advice and Liaison Service can help:
- It will guide you, your family and friends through the different health services available across Trafford.
- It will also help you to sort out any concerns you may have about the care you, your family or friends receive.
- It will represent your views where appropriate to ensure services are shaped to meet your needs.
What does the service offer?
- A confidential listening service for patients and carers.
- Help if you have concerns or are uncertain about any aspect of your treatment (current or planned).
- Help and support with any difficulties as they arise.
- Information about health services across Trafford and the best way to access them.
- Details of other organisations or services who can offer information, advice and support to meet your particular needs.
- Information regarding the complaints procedure, should you wish to make a formal complaint.
What we will do for you
- If you wish to speak to someone in person, this can be arranged “on the spot” or at a mutually convenient time – this will be as soon as possible.
- Resolve concerns or difficulties at the point of contact if possible.
- Ensure your comments are acted upon and fed back to the appropriate managers and staff.
- Use your comments and suggestions to improve the quality of services.
- Acknowledge any correspondence within two working days.
- Keep you informed at all times of progress in resolving any concerns.
All correspondence and comments are completely confidential
How do you access the service?
Firstly you should discuss your concern with the person in charge of the ward or department or practice or clinic.
If you find this difficult for any reason a PALS officer can do this for you.
If your concern has not been resolved you should contact PALS.
