What We Do at Trafford CIL

What We Do at Trafford CIL

The CIL has a number of new services for deaf and disabled people in Trafford.

It will manage the existing Trafford Disability Information Service, which gives free, impartial, confidential and accessible information to deaf and disabled people in Trafford.  This could be about anything but examples include information about leisure activities, benefits available, how to get support at home, transport, personal budgets, equipment and adaptations.  For more information about the different ways you can contact Trafford Disability Information Service, click here

We now offer advocacy for deaf and disabled people in Trafford, something that was previously unavailable.  The CIL has recently recruited an advocate worker, Sue Hopwood.  If you have a problem and need support to sort it Sue can help you to put your point across and make your opinions heard in meetings, in letters or over the telephone, for example.  She can attend meetings with you, help you with letter writing or make telephone calls on your behalf.  She can also help with filling in forms.  Sue will aim to give you whatever support you need to help you to stay independent. For information about how to contact Sue, click here

We also offer independent brokerage for anyone who has been assessed as needing a Personal Budget. This is money from Social Services that is there to support you. If you have a personal budget our support broker can support you to identify how you want to spend your money to do the things you want to do and assist with your support plan. For example, you may want to employ a Personal Assistant to support you or you may want to use your money to access services or activities in the community.  For more information about how to contact the broker, please click here.
